The Story of Gharip Sannam Shah (The Story of Aşık Gharip) has been narrated for ages in Anatolia and Turkistan and has come to the present day from generation to generation via oral culture. It has been loved and internalized to such an extent that its different variations have been created in different regions of Turkic world, these different variations have been reported in written forms from time to time, and moreover theatres, operas, ballets and dramas have been organized based on these reports. There are other variations of the story in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Karakalpak, Kabartay, Karayim, Kazan, Uyghur, and even in Armania and Georgia. In this study, we examine and analyze the linguistic features of Gharip Sannam Shah which was written in Chagatai language and published by the Swedish orientalist Gunnar Jarring in 1982 inside his book Literary Texts From Kashgar. Besides the analysis of its language, the study also contains its transcription and intralingual translation to Turkey Turkish. Also in the study, the text has been compared with the Uyghur copy which was published by Batur Erşednov in the journal Bulak in 1984 under the title of Gharip ve Sannam.
