UŞAK ÇEŞMELERİ

Özet

The fountain, which is the last point where the water that comes from the natural sources meet with the public, has protected its privileged position within the collective use of the public structures in every period of history. The structures, whose main function is to provide water distribution, have given examples of monumental examples along with the standard plan schema in every period. Located in Uşak and dating back to the last period of the Ottoman Empire according to the examples with the epigraph, the fountains have come to these days by maintaining their functionality to a large extent with their designs that are not as arty as the examples in Istanbul and Anatolia, which were built during the same period. The study includes an evaluation of two hundred and thirteen fountains in Uşak city center and in five towns of Uşak. One hundred and twenty-four of the two hundred and thirteen fountains in Uşak are still functioning well. Only seventy-two of these fountains, fifty-six of which are registered, have epigraph.
