Özet

Predicative verbs, also called declarative suffixes, are taught with different methods in secondary and higher education and effective in understanding the predicate, which is the main element of a sentence, and determining the characteristics of judgment in syntax. In the majority of the textbooks in secondary education, the subject of linguistic knowledge is limited. Many students’ level of readiness in secondary education is less than expected. At the high school level, the sources which students cannot find linguistic subjects in their textbooks to get information is not consistent. This situation is also observed in higher education. Different books of linguistic knowledge used in higher education institutions that train Turkish language and literature teachers and lecturers’ linguistic knowledge teaching manners in these institutions cause differences in the explanation of predicative verbs as in many subjects of linguistic knowledge and so different terminology and teaching methods are faced in this field. In the present study, teaching manners of predicative verbs used in secondary and higher education institutions were examined and appropriate teaching methods were evaluated.
