Abstract

Ahmet Mithat Efendi is an important writer who earned the reputation as an “first teacher” in Turkish literature. He is a writer who read every book. He is one that reflects his inspirations he gets from the books he read or translates them. His story named “Çingene” which was published in the series of Letaif-i Rivayat in 1888, is more likely to be inspired by the myth of "Pygmalion". George Bernard Shaw is one of the most important names in British theatre. It is known that his theatre play, “Pygmalion”, which was staged in 1913, was written with the inspiration of the myth of "Pygmalion".
