MUSTAFA NECATİ SEPETÇİOĞLU’NUN SABIR AĞACI ROMAN SERİSİNDE KÜLT VE SEMBOL OLARAK AĞAÇ
Özet
The aim of our study is to determine the reflection of the tree cult which is an important sub-element of our national culture on the Turkish literature as a symbolic value. Document analysis was used in the study as research method.
The concept of cult was used in terms of showing respect and attribution of holiness in Turkish culture. But in time, the cults inspired by these meanings gained new symbolic values. In our study, the new symbolic values of the cult of tree-an object was determined through a novel series. Most of the researchers pointed out that myth, epic and modern literature are the successive stages. Therefore, mythical archetypes continued to exist in modern novels. The accuracy of this claim has been discussed in the series of Sabır Ağacı novels.
The work called “Sabır Ağacı” novel series of Mustafa Necati Sepetçioğlu was examined for the symbolic values of tree. The work consists of 8 different books. The eight books of the novel series-Zaman Sahibi ve Toprak, Sahibini Arayan Toprak, Zaman Dar Bir Kapıda, Zaman Sarkacı, Zaman Dönümü, Zaman Yok, Zaman Uyanışı, Zaman Yürüyüşü- were analyzed and the symbolic value of the cult of tree has been determined and interpreted by citing from the books. The cult of the tree was determined to be more than just a cult which we respected and sanctified.
