TÜRKİYE TÜRKÇESİ ATASÖZLERİNDE “OL-” FİİLİNİN ANLAM SIRALAMASI VE BU ANLAMLARIN GENEL SÖZLÜKLERDEKİ DURUMU
Özet
This study is about the 390 proverbs found in TDK’s Atasözleri ve Deyimler Sözlüğü, which include the verb “ol-”. The aim of the study is to determine among this verb’s various meanings in Turkish, which ones are prominent, and then to compare this meaning priority order with the orders in Turkish dictionaries. In this study based on 25 meanings from TDK Türkçe Sözlük with the addition of the meanings from three other dictionaries, the number of different meanings reached 29. Proverbs are gathered under these meaning titles. Thus, in which meanings this verb is mostly used in Turkish proverbs is elicited.
The results reached by eveluating the numeric data that obtained in this study are these: 1. The first three prominent meanings in proverbs in order are “Be in any situation”, “To be” and “To pass from one situation to another”. 2. In proverbs, “ol-” verb has 20 total meanings. One of them, “Sense of belongingness, origination, reason” is not available in any dictionary. 3. The meaning priority in proverbs and in dictionaries are not matching.
