Umay which has existed as a female and powerful symbol since the earliest times of Turkish culture. Mardin where constitutes the working area, is one of the special cities that has a rich narrative tradition in this respect. It is possible to reach the obvious traces of Umay Cult, when Sıtti Radviye, Şeyh Lıbben, Mor Şmuni, shrine and the legends/memories formed around them are evaluated. This situation also continues to be experienced in the rituals and practices of the townsfolk. In this context, main purpose of the study is; it is to determine the traces of Umay soul at the present in the field of Mardin where considerabey preserves verbal culture wealth and to remark presence of female/consevative and traditional folklore elements by evoluation the results. The study was based on interviewed with fourteen resource persons.
