Özet

In recent years, Turkey and South Korea have been two states that have made great progress in both political and commercial fields, and as a result, people in the World are curious about both the Turkish culture and South Korean culture. For this reason, in order to get to know and learn about the two cultures closely, people watch South Korean and Turkish TV series and listen to their songs. Furthermore, the people who are interested in the Turkish culture, South Korean culture resort to the Turkish and Korean teaching institutions and organizations in order to learn those languages. Two of such leading institutions are the Yunus Emre and King Sejong Institutes. This study has been designed as a qualitative research in the screening model. The data has been collected by document analysis technique. In this study, the cultural elements in the Yedi İklim (Seven Climates) A1 Turkish language book prepared by the Yunus Emre Institute and in the Sejong Hangugo 1-2 Korean language book prepared by the Sejong Institute were investigated within the framework of the criteria under the heading of Sociocultural Knowledge present within the European Common Reference Text for Languages, and evaluated in tables; they were eventually discussed from a comparative perspective. When the course books used in the teaching of these two languages are compared, it has been obviously seen that cultural elements are not dispersed in a balanced way, having been differing according to their importance in the books of A1 level and mostly they included the cultural elements of the target culture.
