Özet

Turks are one of the communities that enjoy living together and strictly tied to their family traditions. Family is not only a nuclear structure consisting of only mother, father and children, but also it is patriarchal and extended in Turkish culture. Turks who have a tight relative relations possess different names for each kind of kinship, and this situation increased the diversity of terminology in kinship names, and significantly enriched the vocabulary. Kinship is generally based on the relationship by blood and by marriage. People connected by marriage are named as ‘hısım’ in Turkish. From old Turkish to date, ‘relation’ and ‘kinship’ names have been exposed to renaming and reinterpreting in time or the vocabulary in this area flourished with loanwords. In this study, kinship names which enrich the basic Turkish vocabulary were analyzed within the scope of East Turkic inter linear Qur’anic translations and interpretations, notions reflecting kinship were determined and examined for vocabulary characteristics in terms of morphology, etymology and semantics after classified under the topics regarding relationship level in family, father, mother, marriage, grandfather, maternal grandmother or paternal grandmother, and compared with Altaic languages.
