Abstract
To Draw an Elif: Elif in Classical Turkish Literature
In spite of an letter of the alphabet Elif In Classical Turkısh Litereture has showed some concepts. Ottoman Culture has maked an “Culture of Elif” in which being manner of living, thinking and believes. In lyric poetry elif has been used a lot of metaphor and likening. A phrase “drawing an elif” means making a wound like a line or to rend one’s heart with passion. Elif being imaged honesty and height in mystical poetry has imaged monothesm and humanity.
