Abstract


TEACHERS’ REASONS FOR ARRANGING STUDENT VISITS TO MUSEUMS SCALE: A VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY
In order to ensure that students benefit from museums at the highest level, it is necessary to understand the teachers’ reasons for organizing trips to museums. Within the scope of this research, it is aimed to develop a measurement tool that aims to determine the reasons of preschool teachers for organizing student trips to museums. A total of 145 preschool teachers were included in the study by purposeful sampling selection method. In order to test the structure of the scale, exploratory factor analysis was applied. It was concluded that the scale has 3-factor structure consisting of 23 items and the total variance revealed was 60.52%. In order to validate the structure, confirmatory factor analysis was applied. At this stage 2 items were removed from the scale considering load values, and it was determined that the 3-factor model had an acceptable fit index. The Cronbach’s Alpha value of the total scale was found to be .92. In the light of the data, it can be said that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the reasons for preschool teachers to organize student trips to museums.
