Abstract
An Inter-Textual View On Ziya Gokalp’s Poem “Arslan Basat”
Dede Qorkut is one of the people in the Turkish world on whom great emphasis is put. Likewise, the book “Dede Qorkut” is one of the most important works of the Turkish cultural world. Two copies of the book exist, which are Dresten and Vatikan. Dresten consists of twelve stories and Vatikan consists of six stories. The concept ‘inter-textual’ is a concept which was suggested by some critics in 1960’s. It is very useful in very large areas such as poetry, novels, theatre, cinema, art and architecture. The theory is based upon the rhetorical theory of M. Bakhtin. When J. Kristeva created and finalized the concept based on the rhetorical theory, the scope of the theory was drawn. This study will try to determine the inter-textual relations between a poem called “Arslan Basat” which Ziya Gökalp wrote in 1917 and a story called “Basat Tepegöz’ü Öldürdüğü Boy” which is one of the Dede Qorkut stories.
