Abstract
Literary Circles Formed Around Sultans and Ruling Class During Term of Karahanlılar
Following the conversion of Turks to Islam Karahanlılar (840-1212) initiated a new period by combining traditional Turkish culture and Islamic culture. During this time literary has been valued and improved amongst groups and places close to ruling authority. Especially capital of East Karahanlılar, Kaşgar, became a cultural center and first works of Islamic-Turk literary was written here. Grouping of poets around sultan’s palace, which is to be seen in Ottoman Empire later on, is observed in this period. Primary reason behind this phenomenon is support shown by sultan and ruling class to poets.
