Abstract
ABOUT THE TENSE MARKERS IN LITERARY TEXTS
This study which Oktay Akbal’s stories were used as corpus in aims to evaluate tense markers to look for answers to the question that how to be done time analysing from a grammatical point of view in literary texts.
The tense which points out that the encoding of time with language units has a complete and complex mechanism that is not marked with suffixes and adverbs only. The tense markers which are required to be evaluated for a competent tense analysing are determined as follows in the study: tense suffixes and structures that are formed with tense suffixes, adverbs of time, other language units about the time, non-linguistic references, clues that are obtained from text context, intertextual relationships. It is need to be evaluated these elements that determine the tense with an integrated approach and within the scope of the relations they have established with each other and also be approached to tense topic at a level of major unit than sentence.
