Abstract
MANTIKU’L- GAYB’DA FİİLLER
Musa bin Şeyh Tahir Tokadi is the writer of Mantıku’l-Gayb which is a work of Old Anatolian Turkish period. Rich information sources do not exist related with the author, yet he is known as a wise reverend in Halvetis (Religional Cult Group) and has a significant role in Halvetis. The work has a great importance to reflect language characteristics of its era since it was written in the Old Anatolian Turkish period. It is aimed to contribute studies in this field by evaluating verbs and verbal nouns in the work named Mantıku'l-Gayb. Verbs are the words that describe act, formation and movement. Stems of verbs are meaningful like nouns, but they are units of a language that can not be used as single words different from nouns. Verbs always include conjugations. In the examined work, verbs have been classified in detail according to their conjugation. Moods in the work have been examined as indicative moods, subjunctive moods, imperative moods and necessitatives. Moreover, verbs have been described in terms of their complex conjugations and complementary verbs in detail. In the study, verbs have been collected under three main headings. Verbal nouns bear the meaning of verbs, yet they do not own person and mood conjugations. They function in sentence as nouns, adjectives or adverbs. Verbal nouns in the work have been categorized among themselves.
