Abstract
VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY OF PRIMARY LEVELY TURKISH COMMUNICATION PROFICIENCY PERCEPTION SCALE
In this study, it was aimed to develop a scale to determine the students' competence perceptions of primary level communication in Turkish. There were 19 items on the scale and expert opinions were consulted to determine whether these items measure their clarity and expected characteristics. Primary School Turkish Communication Proficiency Perception Scale was administered to 346 students who were enrolled to 5th graders in Aydın city center schools, namely Efeler District.. Validity and reliability studies were performed using the obtained data. Exploratory factor analysis was done to reveal the validity of the structure of the scale. Confirmatory factor analysis was also performed to verify the structure the factors derived from the analysis. The analysis obtained from a structure indicated a 6 factor structure consisting of 19 items, and the indexes were found to be a good level of cohesion. The reliability analysis of the results indicated a high reliability of the scale. As a result, this scaled can be trustfully used to investigate the primary level Turkish communication competencies of students.
