Abstract
COMPASSION, LOVE, CARNATION, RAKI AND OTHERS: FROM THE ANALYSIS OF “THE GRAVITATIONAL CARNATION” TO THE DICTIONARY OF EXISTENTIALISM
The first poems of Edip Cansever, who is identified in the İkinci Yeni in Turkish poetry, are under the influence of the Garip movement. Cansever, who has stepped upto a different edge with his book titled Yerçekimli Karanfil, also catches a different dimension with the same poem, which he named his book with. It's a chart that tries to unite existential problems with a lyrical discourse. Cansever, who is said to be a poet of short moments and existential affairs, has brought together two elements in his poem entitled “Yerçekimli Karanfil”. According to the other poems of the poet, especially the ones, where he works on existential principles, the poem mentioned is rather short. The poem, which allows to narrate moving from the moment, is surrounded by different forms of images and harmony. In this study, by analysing the content, external structure, language and style of Edip Cansever's poem “Yerçekimli Karanfil”, its formal features with its multi-layered meaning will be revealed.
