Abstract
EVALUATİON OF ATTİTUDES OF PRESERVİCE TEACHERS İN FACULTY OF EDUCATİON AND PEDAGOGİCAL FORMATİON GROUPS TOWARDS TEACHİNG PROFESSION
The purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes betweenthe fourth-year students of Turkish Teaching in the faculty of education and the pedagogical formation group (Turkish Language and Literature) towards teaching profession and to find out whether or not these attitudes show a significant difference in terms of various variables. The population of the study consisted of a total of 104 students including 46 fourth-year students studying in Turkish Education in the Faculty of Education in Kafkas University in academic year of 2015 - 2016 and 58 students studying at pedagogical formation in Faculty of Education, Kafkas Universityin academic year of 2015 - 2016. The data were collected through “The Attitude Scale of toward Teacher Profession” prepared by Temizkan (2008) and interview form prepared by Erdağı Toksun (2016). Analyses were performed through nonparametric tests since the collected data did not show normal distribution. According to the results obtained, it was found that the students in the pedagogical formation group had a better level of attitudes toward teaching profession compared to the fourth-year students. Furthermore, a significant difference was determined in some of the subscales of the scale based on the variables of gender. In the qualitative dimension of the study, the data collected were analyzed by using the method of content analysis. As a result of the interviews, it was revealed that the students of the formation group had a better level of attitude towards the profession than theTurkish preservice teachers.
