Abstract
METAPHOR PERCEPTIONS RELATED TO THE TEACHING PRACTICE OF TEACHER CANDIDATES’
The purpose of this research is to reveal the perceptions of prospective teachers about teaching practice lesson through metaphors. The study group of the research consists of a total of 68 teacher candidates who are educated at Mardin Artuklu University between 2016-2017. The data was obtained by asking the following question; “Teaching practice lesson is like…., because ... ". In the first space in the form, they should make an analogy about the concept of teaching practice lesson, and in the second space they are asked to explain the reason for this analogy. A content analysis technique was used in the analysis and interpretation of the data. According to the results of the research, prospective teachers produced 68 valid metaphors about teaching practice lesson. Generated metaphors were grouped under six categories which were "experience", "observation-imitation", "difficulties", "harmony", "relationship" and "beginning". It was observed that the most emphasis was on "experience" and "observation-imitation". It has been found that the the category about “difficulties” produced negative metaphors while metaphors related to other categories produced positive metaphors.
