Abstract
INVESTIGATING TEACHERS’ GENERAL COMPETENCY LEVELS OF TEACHING PROFESSION
In the study it is aimed to determine teachers’, who work in primary and secondary schools, level of having the General Competencies of Teaching Profession published by the Ministry of National Education in 2017 in accordance with their own opinions. 271 teachers who served in primary and secondary schools in Nevşehir province center in 2017-2018 educational year and selected by appropriate sampling method created the sampling group of the study. The data of the research were collected through the questionnaire developed by the researchers by utilizing the General Competency of Teaching Profession published by the Ministry of National Education General Directorate of Teacher Training and Education in 2017. The normality test was used to compare the gender and graduated faculty type variables, and the Independent groups t-test was used to determine that the distribution was normal. In the comparisons of the seniority and branch variables one-way analysis of variance was applied by searching that distribution was normal. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the teachers see themselves at a high level level in terms of occupational knowledge adequacy, at a very high level in dimensions of professional skills, attitude and values
