Abstract
THE LEVELS AND REASONS OF WRITING ANXIETY OF TURKISH TEACHER CANDIDATES
In this research, whether writing anxiety of teacher candidates becomes different according to their sex and class level or not is determined by specifying their writing anxiety levels. Additionally, the reasons supporting writing anxiety are presented as interviewing with 12 teacher candidates on the brink of 3 persons from all class levels. In the study, exploratory mixed method using quantitative and qualitative research methods together from one of the mixed method patterns is handled. Writing anxiety scale is used to obtain quantitative data, and semi-structured interview form is used for qualitative data. The participants consisted of 194 teacher candidates who are studying Turkish Language Teaching in a public university in 2016. In the conclusion of the research, it is designated that the level of writing anxiety of teacher candidates is low and writing anxiety does not become different in a considerable extent according to their sex and class levels. Besides, it is made firm that worries of teacher candidates having writing anxiety are welded especially from feeling of inadequacy, worry of being evaluated by others, the subject to write, the writing environment, and allocated time for writing.
