Abstract
THE PREDICTIVE ROLE OF ATTACHMENT STYLES AND PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL BEING ON MARRIED INDIVIDUALS’ MARITAL ADJUSTMENT
This study aims to examine the predictive effect of attachment styles and psychological well-being on marital adjustment in married individuals. The study was conducted in accordance with the relational model. The study was carried out with 441 married individuals who live in Erzurum city centre and the center of a district. Marital Adjustment Scale, Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationship, Psychological Well Being Scale and Personal Information Form were used in the collection of the data.
According to the results, it was found that there was negative significant relationship between agreement and relationship style sub scale of marital adjustment scale and avoidance sub scale of attachment styles. There was a negative significant relationship between agreement sub scale with anxiety sub scale of attachment styles. There was a positive significant relationship between agreement and relationship with psychological well-being. Besides avoidance and psychological well-being were significant predictors of relationship style.
