Abstract
FREE-READING STATUS OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
In this study, it is aimed to have ideas about free-reading states of international students who are having their university educations in Turkey by evaluating the terms like the type of the reading material chosen and topics read and time designated to reading. The study is a qualitative research. The data was obtained by interviewing technique. The study group consists of nine foreign students studying in Sakarya University during academic year of 2016-2017 along with eleven other students studying in Istanbul University the same year. At the end of the study it was revealed that they have difficulty in choosing material for free-reading, that they prefer screen-reading instead of published materials and that the time designated to free-reading decreases when their class levels increases.
