Abstract
FACTORS AFFECTING THE LISTENABILITY OF AUDIO TEXTS FOR FOREIGNERS LEARNING TURKISH
This study aims to determine the factors affecting listenability of audio texts in teaching Turkish to foreigners. In the study the impact of language and presentation features of audio texts on their listenability has been investigated . The research has been carried out in correlational screening model. Eleven texts has been listened to 76 students at B1 level and they had been asked to give point in the range of 1-4 regarding the difficulty of the texts. Language features and presentation features has been taken as independent variable and their effect on the dependent variable (listenability score) has been investigeted.
As a result of the research, it has been revealed that word length and grammatical complexity as language features, speed and prosody effect as presentation features affect the listenability of the texts. A listenability formula has been obtained using these variables. It has been also observed in the study that the word length affecting the readibility negatively affects the listenability positively.
