Abstract
INVESTIGATING INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION PERCEPTIONS OF THE LECTURERS WORKING ABROAD: A QUALITATIVE STUDY
With the developments in communication, transportation Technologies and globalization, by which the borders have been removed, people have become more mobile. As a result of this mobility, environments where people from different cultures come together and communicate for various purposes have increased. It is expected that educators working in countries with cultures different from their own culture to be sensitive to cultural differences and have intercultural communication skills. Within this context, the aim of the research is to determine the intercultural communication perceptions of teachers assigned by the Ministry of National Education to teach Turkish language and culture abroad. According to the results of the research, using the phenomenology design, the teachers have positive feelings about intercultural communication. In addition, they expressed their perceptions about the concept of cultural difference as spiritual or abstract elements.
