Abstract
ABOUT THE IDIOMS IN NEVADİRÜ’T-TEVARÎH WRITTEN IN THE 16th CENTURY
In this study, the existence of the idiomatic vocabulary determined between the pages 227-451 of the history book named Nevadirü’t-Tevarih, written by ?Abdu’s-samed Diyarbekri in the field of Egypt in the 16th century, will be examined. The fact that Nevadirü’t-Tevarih is a very rich book in proverbs and idioms, increases its value for language history researches. Idioms are important in cultural historical researches as well as in language researhes. Idioms, which have a special place in the vocabulary of a language and reflect the richness of language's expressive power, are among the important cultural heritages that reflect the perspectives, feelings, expectations and many other characteristics of the communities they belong to.
While this study reveals the existence of the idioms in the mentioned work, it aims to examine the determined elements structurally and to provide a rich language material to the researchers.
