Abstract
THE STAMP (TAMGA) TOMBSTONE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF KİREÇLİ TOWN OF TORTUM IN ERZURUM
The subject of the research is about stamped tombstone that was found during the water pipeline excavation in the street of Kireçli ‘’Harabelik’’, located in the borders of the town of Tortum in Erzurum. The stamp are one of the most important facts in learning ancient cultures and revealing the names of tribes and clans. These have had a very mutual use area such as stones, rugs, animals, rock, trees, carpets, ornaments, pots and pans, architectural structures, armor, clothing-graves and tombstones. The stamp in Turkish art continued from the earliest times to present day. In this study, first of all, general information about the marks is given and then it is emphasized; place and importance in Turkish World. Subsequently, respectively, the region where the work was captured, detailed description of the work and finally, the results were concluded chronologically within the comparative examples. Recovered of this stamp stone work, it’s seen that Turkish culture and art entered Anatolia earlier and were kept alive.
