Abstract
TURKISH TEACHING STUDENTS’ OPINIONS ABOUT THE COURSE OF EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES IN EDUCATION
The aim of this study was to determine the opinions of Turkish Teaching 2nd grade students towards Extracurricular Activities in Education (ECAE) course. In this study, in which qualitative research method was preferred, case study design was adopted. The research was carried out with 58 students studying at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Education Department of Turkish Teaching in the fall semester of the 2019-2020 academic year. Semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool in the study. Content analysis method was employed in the analysis of the data. As a result of the research, it was determined that most of the students did not have an idea about the ECAE course at the beginning of the term. ECAE course contributed to the students in the “Cognitive”, “Affective”, “Psychomotor” and “Social” fields. While preparing an activity for this course, students received support from official institutions and many people. The results indicated that in addition to the personal and in-group problems, the participants had problems with regard to the activity, materials, official procedures, time related, spatial and technical issues, and they offered solutions to these The students stated that the ECAE course had an effect on their skills of using materials and educational technology, and that they thought this course would contribute to their professional lives.
