Abstract
HISTORY TEACHERS 'OPINIONS ABOUT ENSURING THEIR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of history teachers about ensuring their professional development. The sample of the research, in which qualitative research method was used, consisted of 37 history teachers working in different high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Antalya. The research data were collected with the help of an open-ended questionnaire prepared by the researcher, taking the opinions of field experts. The collected data were analyzed by using the descriptive analysis method. When the results of the study were considered in general, it was concluded that the pre-service training contributed to their professional development, but the in-service training activities provided were lacking in the application dimension Also, professional development activities and related cultural activities exhibited variation, but, in terms of the professional development, history teachers could not actively participate in scientific activities at the desired level, It was found that the high school history teachers followed scientific publications and were aware of the obligation to upgrade themselves for their professional development.
