Abstract
COMPOUND SENTENCES WITH COMPOUND SUFFIX -DI / -DU mI / mU
It is known that language researchers have different views in the definition, dedification and classification of the compound sentences in Turkish. Due to this difference of opinion, some problems are encountered in the statements about the compound sentences in the grammar sources of Modern Turkish.
The first step in explaining and describing the compound sentences is to make a classification of these sentences that will be accepted by all researchers. However, there is an ongoing dispute here about which sentences should be considered as compound sentence. Some type of sentences that some researchers accept and explain as compound sentence are not included in the works of some linguists.
One of the problems in this regard is experienced in the sentences with the compound suffix -DI / -DU mI / mU. In the grammar sources examined within the scope of this study, some researchers did not include the sentences with the compound suffix -DI/-DU mI/mU in the compound sentences, so they did not consider it a type of compound sentences. Some researchers, on the other hand, treated this sentence with different names, but ignored the -DI / -DU suffix and tried to explain it only through the mI/mU question suffix. In this study, the place of sentences with the compound suffix -DI / -DU mI / mU in the compound sentence classification will be emphasized.
