Abstract
EXAMPLES OF ARTIFACTS FROM THE TURKISH-ISLAMIC PERIOD IN THE SYRIAN DAMASCUS NATIONAL MUSEUM
Damascus National Museum is the oldest cultural heritage institution in Syria. In the museum; Finds from important archaeological sites such as Mari, Ebla, Ugarit, cuneiform tablets, Dura-Europos Synagogue, Roman period mosaics, artifacts from Palmyra, textiles, Kasr-al Khayr-el Garbi frescoes, ceramics, glass, metal, wood, stone, manuscripts and traditional Damascus house example belonging to XVIII. Century, contemporary works of artists from Syria - Arab world and other countries are exist. Stone works are exhibited in the garden of the museum. These include works such as architectural plastics, inscriptions and steles from the ancient period to the end of the Ottoman period. Especially, stone foundation and building inscriptions belonging to the Ayyubi and Mamluk periods are exhibited.
In this article; Among the works exhibited in Damascus National Museum, Damascus National Museum Entrance Front, Kasr'al-Khayri'l-Garbi's Fresk Piece, Ceramic Pots and Pans, Wooden Maxure Piece from Sultan Dukak B. Tutuş Tomb, Wooden Chest of Bahti Hatun, Palace Cube, Raqqa (Horsed) Cavalry, Ceramic Lamp-Figurines, Animal Fighting Scene Relief, Memorial Inscription of Sultan Baybars in Halid Bin Velid Tomb, Tomb Stone of Sultan El-Melik En- Nâsır, Copper Bowl, Water Bottle, Compass (with Qibla Direction) Plate, Fountain of Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque and Tile Window Pediment of Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, examples of works belonging to the Umayyad, Abbasi Seljuk, Ayyubi, Mamluk and Ottoman periods were examined.
