Abstract
ANALYSIS OF STUDIES RELATED TO PROJECT-BASED INSTRUCTION IN SOCIAL STUDIES EDUCATION: A META SYNTHESIS STUDY
Project-based learning is the continuation of the teaching-learning process in a project-oriented manner. The project work carried out in a certain period of time is based on an understanding that the student is at the center, takes an active role, creates his own learning, takes responsibility and cooperates with his friends. Studies on project-based learning have mostly been carried out in the field of science and mathematics. However, it is possible to encounter many studies in this field, especially in Social Studies education. In this study, it is aimed to examine theses, articles and papers about project-based learning in Social Studies education by using meta-synthesis method. In this study, it was aimed to analyze the studies about project-based learning in Social Studies education using qualitative methods and to identify general trends in this context, so the meta-synthesis method, which is considered within the scope of qualitative research designs, was used. The data obtained in the research, the studies related to project-based learning; It has been analyzed in the context of its objectives, methods, sample groups, data collection tools, results and recommendations. The collected data are visualized and interpreted with tables and figures.
