DEVELOPING A WRITING ATTITUDE SCALE FOR THE LEARNERS OF TURKISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The aim of the research is to develop a writing attitude scale, the validity and reliability of which is ensured in order to specify the writing skill attitudes of the ones who learn Turkish as a foreign language. During the development phase of the scale, firstly literature scanning was performed and then a pool of seventy-eight items about writing was created and expert opinions were received about them. Next, repeated or similar items were taken out of the pool. A form was composed containing the necessary items and expert opinions were received once again. The scale items were finalized in accordance with the expert opinions. The scale was applied to 159 students who learned Turkish in the Turkish Teaching Center of Gaziantep University. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were utilized in order to investigate the construct validity of the test form. At the end of the exploratory factor analysis it was found out that the scale had a single factoral construct with 14 items. The established single factoral construct was put to the test through confirmatory factor analysis. The obtained results indicated that the single factoral construct of the scale adjusted to the available data.
