Abstract
1980 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PROCESS
Elections, one of the important facts of the history of Turkish democracy, guide us in understanding the periods. Presidential elections are also important in this sense. Republic of Turkey, founded by 20 times from 1923 until 2014 lived in the presidential election; Those before 2014 were elected by the parliament and by the public in 2014. The election of the President, which was held in 1980, was inconclusive. In the elections, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and İsmet İnönü have come to this position four times, Celal Bayar three times, and other presidents once. The subject of the study consists of the 1980 President Election Process, which was conducted in 1980 and failed.
Within the framework of a qualitative study, it was tried to be done depending on the document analysis. In the country, which has chaotic days periodically, it appears as evidence that unity or togetherness or reconciliation is impossible. At the end of 1980, we have been able to see how fragmented that of Turkey, albeit a bit. At the end of the article, the presidential election process shows that the movement is impossible at the point of unity.
