Abstract
ADULT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP IN CARTOONS
Document analysis design was used in the study conducted to determine adult-child relationships in cartoons. In order to determine the cartoons to be examined in the study, first, the rating list was accessed on the internet. Afterwards, the productions reflecting adult-child relationships were reviewed according to their rating order and three cartoons were selected for analysis. The cartoons in the list are Kral Şakir, Gumball and Powerpuff Girls, respectively. In this respect, cartoons were first subjected to descriptive analysis followed by content analysis. In the study examining the adult-child relationships in the most watched cartoons, it was seen that the relationships in international productions stand out with thefeatures of interest, insecurity and selfishness while trust, love and honesty came to the fore in national productions. It was found that typological uniformization between adult and child characters was conducted in all fictions examined.
