Abstract
HADJI ALİ TÜRABİ BABA FROM YANBOLU ONE OF THE SHEIKHS OF HADJIBEKTASH LODGE
The word “Türabi” means “related to soil, made of soil” and is one of most frequently used pseudonym in Turkish literature. There are eight different poets who use this expression as pseudonym; some of these poets belong to Tekke literature and some to Minstrel literature, and the other some to Divan literature. Hadji Ali Türabi Baba from Yanbolu, the most famous of the poets with the pseudonym “Türabi”, has an important position in the Alevi-Bektashi culture, because of his education, his Divan and his duty of the head of the Hadjibektash dervish lodge.
This work, firstly mentions the nature of the word “Türabi” and the poets who determined this name as a pseudonym and refers to the reason of this pseudonym to be taken by various poets. In addition, it examines Türabi Baba’s personal and literary life, his Divan, and his duty of the head of Hacı Bektash Veli Dervish Lodge.
