Abstract
GRAMMATICAL ANALYSIS OF READING TEXTS IN TEXTBOOKS FOR TEACHING TURKISH TO FOREIGNERS (NEW ISTANBUL TURKISH FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS COURSE BOOK-A2)
In this study, the grammar elements contained in the reading texts in the books on teaching Turkish to foreigners and the effect of reading skills on grammar teaching were examined. Document analysis, one of the qualitative research designs, was used to obtain the qualitative data for the study. New Istanbul Turkish For International Students Course Book-A2 was used in the study. A total of eighteen texts in six units in the book were analyzed in terms of the grammatical elements they contain. Accordingly, it was determined that the texts included the imperative mood, the subjunctive mood, derivational affix (-il, -siz, -lik); definite past tense, definite past tense in noun phrases, preposition ‘ile’; future tense, future tense in noun phrases, comparative preposition (like, as); indefinite past tense, reinforcing adjectives, direct expression; present tense, verb + -makta, complementary verb (-dır) and modals of ability, verbal adverb (y)Ip.
