Abstract
ISHMAEL’S PARABLES WRITTEN IN YASAWI TRADITION
Prophet parables are works giving history and mythology knowledge written in a simple way that people can understand in order to be gotten advice and warning from generally true stories telling the life, legends (mankiba) and spiritual personalities of prophets. While parables of Ishmael, among these parables, are being ground out as various epics in Turkish Folk Literature, they have been subjects of poetic and prosaic works in Classical Turkish Literature. Ishmael has been delt with by the some aspects of his like childhood starting from his birth, youth and prophecy. Kul Süleyman, one of the important representatives of Yassawi tradition, interpreted the immolation event of Ishmael in the context of sufism and hikmet way, uttered sadly and exemplary in the poem subjected to this article titled as Ķıŝŝa-ı Ģażret-i İsmā‘íl. In this study, it is aimed to prepare a transcription and translation into Turkish, a grammatical index, a dictionary of this poem written by way of hikmet in Chagatai Turkish and give brief information about the people mentioned.
