Abstract
EXAMINATION OF PICTURED STORY BOOKS PREPARED FOR PRESCHOL CHILDREN REGARDING ELEMENTS OF FEAR AND VIOLENCE
From the preschool period, the quality of book is important for children to acquire reading habits and love of book. In this sense, attitude and knowledge of adults in book selection for children, play an important role. In the research, it is intended to determine frequency of occurrence and existence of fear and violence in story books that families and teachers could select for children who in preschool period in Aksaray. As the research aims defining of a given situation as it is, descriptive survey model is adopted for this study. Randomly selected 54 story books that published between 2009-2015 which prepared for preschool children and located in Aksaray Public library and bookstores was examined through evaluation form which developed by Dağlıoğlu and Çakmak (2009). As a result of the data analysis, violence, fear, picture and text categories comprised. Frequency of occurrence and existence of fear and violence explained by providing percent and frequency values. According to the research result, it is determined that even little items regarding violence and fear is included in story books that examined.
