Abstract
AN EVALUATION ABOUT TEACHER CANDIDATES’ READING ATTITUDE IN TERMS OF DIFFERENCE VARIABLE
This study aims to examine attitudes towards reading of teacher candidates from different departments in terms of diverse variables. For this reason, the study was conducted with the participation of 550 teacher candidates from the departments of Turkish, Classroom Teaching, and Social Science in the Faculty of Education of İbrahim Çeçen University, Ağrı. In the study, descriptive survey model was preferred and “Attitude scale towards reading habits of teacher candidates” developed by Susar Kırmızı (2012) was used as the data collection tool . Attitude towards reading of teacher candidates were tested in terms of gender, department, grade, and level of income variables. Taking advantage of SPSS 22.0 stastistics software, Normality Test by Kolmogorov Smirnov, U Test by Man Whitney, and Kruskal Wallis Test were used to analyze the data. Significance of the data was determined to be p<,05. In conclusion, although there is a significant difference in the teacher candidates’ attitudes towards reading habit in terms of gender variable, there is no significant differences in the teacher candidates’ attitudes towards reading habit in terms of department, grade, and level of income variables.
