Abstract
ON NARRATIVE GENRES IN MODERN KAZAKH PROSE
A significant increase in literary translation activities in Turkic World has recently been observed. However, many issues are faced within translations. One of these consists of the issue of not being able to define counterparts of terms and concepts due to different literary traditions that developed in the West and East of Turkic World, based on historical, political, and geographic grounds. This study aims to introduce ocherk, feuilleton, novella, äñgime, novel, and povest as literary genres based on narration in Kazakh literature and to define their counterparts in Turkish literature. The counterparts of the mentioned literary genres in Turkic languages were also included. For the genres and terms with no corresponding equivalents in Turkish literature, counterparts were suggested. Particularly Russian, Kazakh, and Turkish sources were used when writing this article.
