Abstract
SOME FINDINGS OF HALİD ZİYA UŞAKLIGİL'S NOVEL 'MAİ VE SİYAH (THE BLUE AND THE BLACK) SIMPLIFIED BY ŞEMSETTİN KUTLU
Intralingual translation means expressing indicators in one language with different indicators within same language in order to simplify and modernize certain literary works or scripts. Role of intralingual translation with changing words and sentences in order to modernize them, is very important in literary works in Turkish culture with old fashioned expressions. Transcription of old literary works in a way that young generations would understand it is really hard and responsible. It is very hard to achieve loosing meaning, motives, feelings and importance of that literary work that has been translated. While we can call a creator - person who translates from one language to another, intralingual translation doesn't give you that kind of freedom. In this work, analysis of literary work written in year 1942 and 1988, Mai ve Siyah written by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil is discussed. This is one of the biggest representatives of Servet-i Fünûn novels, hence we tried to determine in which way and how much did Şemsettin Kutlu simplify these literary works.
