Abstract
GERUNDS WHICH HAVE PERSON EXPRESSION IN TURKMEN TURKISH
Turkmen Turkish takes place in East section of Oghuz Group of Turkish. When compared with the other dialects which are Group of Oghuz, it attracts attention with getting literary language in late period, containing primary long vowels, some phonetic and morfological differences which arise from effect of Chagatay. Morever, gerund structures which are most crowded in number and most complex functionally of verbals which have an important place in understanding the Turkish Language’s being able to have person expression by means of possesive suffix makes Turkmen Turkish different from Turkish. Gerunds which adding to verbs for the function of adverb with time, duration, reason, mood and condition used in Turkish, haven’t been added personal ending since old Turkic. While person expression is only seemed derived gerunds which comes from verbal nouns and participles in Turkish, both derived gerunds and simple gerunds which different from other Group of Oghuz Turkish dialects have person expression by means of possesive suffixes in Turkmen Turkish. Features of gerunds being able to have person expression in Turkmen Turkish which we centred in our study are mentioned but not examined independently in former studies. For this reason, aim of this study is to explain gerunds which have person expression in Turkmen Turkish.
