Abstract
THE HOLY QURAN’S TRANSLATION INTO KHWARIZMI TURKISH (I.E. ASTAN QODS RAZAVI OF MASHHAD’S VERSION)
With the spread of Islam, the Quran was translated into various languages as well. Turks of the old centuries mostly translated the texts with interlinear methods and strategies. The translations, carried out with Eastern Turkish have been especially influential in exploration of Turkish language historical trend. Besides a vast vocabulary treasure, the grammatical structure of the versions has been under the focus of linguists. To date, many versions translated into Eastern Turkish have been found. However, with a surge in research activities we can see that new versions exist. One of the versions has been found in the library of Astan Qods Razavi where Turkish versions have existed. The aforementioned version with 686 pages is held in Mashhad’s library registered by No. 1007. In the paper we give information about its linguistic features as well as introducing the artwork. A few pages of the version translated into Khwarizmi Turkish are selected. The Turkish language section of the pages is illustrated as a transcription.
