Abstract
MAN’S DESPOTISM AND ALIENATION OVER NATURE IN SAIK FAIK’S DÜLGER BALIĞININ ÖLÜMÜ THAT IS RESOLVED WITH THE TEXTLINGUISTICS METHOD
Textlinguistics which was emerged in early 1960s thanks to the researchers that follow the path of F. De Saussure is a research method that studies textuality of oral and written works. It puts forward the principle that if an oral or written work can be assumed as a text it must meet seven textual requirements such as “cohesion, coherence, intentionality, situationality, acceptability, informativity, intertextuality’’ and evaluates the works according to these criterions. Among these criterions “cohesion” and “coherence” are two basic criterions for literary texts. In this study a brief information is given about “cohesion” and “coherence” titles and their subtitles of textlinguistics, then the short story of the master story writer Sait Faik Abasıyanık’s Dülger Balığının Ölümü is resolved in the framework of these two criterion. For determining the textuality of texts a research method is followed which reaches out from deep structure to surface structure. Thanks to this research method, the work’s aesthetic structure and criticizing attitude of “man’s despotism over nature and alienation” in the depth is attempted to made visible.
