Abstract
THE ART OF MAKING WOODEN CRADLES IN DÜZCE
In the past, societies produced several different objects by using mostly hand crafted basic tools in order to provide their necessities. The producers of these indigenous objects have been successful in carrying their knowledge and experience to the modern times by handing them down from generation to generation. Wooden cradles, which fall into material culture and their raw material is derived from trees, have a special place among these objects. The answers to the questions about the stages of making cradles, the materials for the process, the competition, the bargain, the financial gain, the marketing of the products, the future and the problems of the craft, given by Arı Family who has dealt with this craft for three generations in Black Sea Region, particularly in Düzce, will be evaluated.
