In this article, the studies carried out in choir associations that provided music education in out-of-school institutions for children in Azerbaijan during the Soviet period were discussed. The research was carried out by document analysis method, and the establishment, functioning, organization and purposes of extracurricular choir associations in the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSC) were discussed. The data for this study were collected from the methods and topics related to choir education during that period, namely, “Work with out-of-School Choir Groups” by L. Shamina, (Л. Шамина) (Работа с самодеятельным хоровым коллективом), “Music associations within the scope of extracurricular activities” by R. Gurbanov, (Р. Гурбанов) (Өзфəалиjjəт мусиги дəрнəҝлəри) and “Programs for schools and non-schools” by L. Abelyan (Л. Абелян) (Программы для внешкольных учреждений и общеобразовательных школ). In line with the data obtained, it can be seen that the choral communities established at that time had a very systematic structure in terms of organization and functioning. In addition, it can be said that the established choir associations and the activities carried out by these associations are a propaganda field in line with the ideological aims of the regime.
