Abstract

A GENERAL OUTLOOK ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE TURKISH WITH THE NATURE WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF SOCIAL ECOLOGY: WHAT DOES THE MOVIE “MANDIRA FİLOZOFU (DIARY PHILOSOPHER)” MAKE US THINK?
In this study, the approach of the Turks to the nature has been studied and explained within thoughts and dynamics (production, consumption, modernization, capitalism, etc.) that affected the three periods as the mythological period, divine religion period and modern period in the context of social ecology. The Turks, who set out one of the most distinguished examples of steppe cultures, have always lived a life with and within nature because they chose agriculture and livestock as their basic means of living. During this life, they have benefited from the water, tree, plant, animal and, in general, all living things in the nature. In other words, the elements of nature are indispensable in the culture and civilization established by the Turks. These relations, which seemed to be material exchanges on the first glance, did not only exist in the socio-economic area, but also influenced the Turks' beliefs and world of thought and provided a philosophy that respects nature. During the period of divine religions, there has been a great change of mind, a philosophy was formed that tended to become master of nature rather than to become a part of nature, but the change in this period is only mind-set. Exploitation, consumption, and unlimited use of nature have become popular in the modern era.
