SOCIAL AND PEDAGOGICAL VALUES IN THE DEDE KORKUT

Abstract

The formation of nations is based on legends, epics, and tales of their national heroes. One of these heroes for the Turkish Nation is Dede Korkut. Dede Korkut, for the Oghuz Tribe, is a wise, an evliya, a miracle worker, an alp, a valiant, a poet, a saint, a pioneer, forefather. The stories in the Dede Korkut Epic contain local (domestic) and universal (universal) values and virtues, such as many psychological, sociological, pedological, national, and moral integrity, honesty, courage, hard work, and loyalty. Determination of these values constitutes the essence of the study.
