In modern Turkic languages there two words özen and özek used wtih the meaning “valley, passage”. Although the Word özen is widespread, in Antolian dialects, Khakas, Yakut and New Uigurthe Word özek is used wtih the same meaning. The words özen adn özek are also found in Chuvash wtih the forms vasan and varak. Being a l/r language the Chuvash form of the word should be varak and the vasan form should be a borrowing form some other language. Chuvash Word varak is derrived from the tem var with the dimminutive +AK.
